For a lot of Nepalis in Dallas-Fort Worth, the Nepalese Society of Texas (NST) is where community life happens. It is the place people turn to for cultural events, local support, and help when something urgent comes up, all while keeping Nepali identity alive for the next generation.

NST has become one of the most active names in the Nepali community in Texas, especially in the DFW metroplex, by creating a space where families can connect, newcomers can find people, and long-time residents can stay involved.

A major part of that work is the NST Global Nepali School, which offers learning support across grade levels and includes Bal Bikas Nepali language classes so diaspora kids can speak, read, and understand Nepali more confidently.

NST has also shared updates about expanding the school experience, including mentorship and STEM-focused offerings announced for its Fall 2024 session.

In 2025, NST introduced an emergency fund for the Nepali diaspora in Texas, meant to help community members dealing with sudden crises like accidents, injuries, or other serious situations. NST said it planned to match donations to help the fund grow faster.

NST’s efforts are not limited to Texas. The group has regularly organized fundraising to support Nepal during disasters, including appeals after the Jajarkot and Rukum earthquake in 2023.

It has also backed earthquake relief in earlier years, including fundraising tied to the 2015 Nepal earthquake response.

NST’s work is simple but important: keeping families connected, helping kids stay close to their roots, and making sure people are not alone when a crisis hits. That is the kind of community support most diasporas rely on, even if it never makes headlines.
